Celtic have been interested in Ivan Toney with the player’s current club confirming the Scottish champions have made a bid which was rejected. [Read More Here]

Since then, it’s been reported Celtic are still keeping an eye on the situation with other clubs in for the striker.

However, the biggest rival for his signature appears to be Brentford, who were described as being close to a deal for the striker.

Tonight though, Celtic have received a major boost as Brentford’s final push towards the Premier League collapsed around them in the playoff final against Fulham.

The club have gone down 2-1 to their London rivals and have been resigned to another year in the Championship.

Why is this a boost for Celtic?

Brentford no longer have the cherry of offering the striker Premier League football, the money they could offer in wages will also be lower than had they been in the Premier League next term.

This puts Celtic in a decent position if they want to make a final play for Toney before any move.

The club are determined to bring in another high calibre striker before the window closes.

  1. We are getting our balls licked here nothing to see here ,I hope the board loose out on eddy and they get fuck all money for him. if they don’t get a new striker in that hits the ground running.

  2. I would walk away, look they are buying players in and wage bill going through the roof it is win or bust for them and they are pulling out all the stops, we need new faces to bulk up or team this is the season of seasons that no one else has done, we need to show our hand and put some money down and give our manager a chance of doing 10 unless we just want to roll over….
