FIFA have confirmed there will be a shut down if all Asian football federation games this month due to the coronavirus.

This means Tom Rogic will no longer have to report for international duty in ten days times giving him a better chance of getting more game time this season .

A Fifa statement read as cited by SunSport: “Following consultation with Asia’s member associations, FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have agreed to postpone the upcoming Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as follows:

“Matches originally scheduled to take place during the international window of 23-31 March 2020 and 1-9 June 2020 are postponed to later dates. FIFA and the AFC will discuss further details of the postponed matches.”

Tom played in Celtic’s game against St Mirren at the weekend and is contention for a Glasgow Derby start.

Last season, between injury and international call ups half way across the world, the Australian probably had his worst run of luck and form since breaking through into the first team.

Getting the March international break off where he can stay behind at Lennoxtown will be good for his overall fitness.

It’s certainly a major boost for Celtic as they go for nine in a row and another Scottish Cup. With the option of Tom or Ryan Christie to occupy a more advanced position makes Celtic much more of a threat. The clubs strength in depth this season a big reason behind their success.
