Sky Sports broke the news of a second bid for Kieran Tierney being made by Arsenal on Saturday night and the BBC has backed this up saying the London club have made a ‘structured offer’ for the Celtic defender which adds up to £25m. All these reports are coming from London but yet to be properly substantiated.

Sky Sports famously told Celtic fans Brighton had bid for Moussa Dembele on Christmas day, only for it to be completely false. Is there something similar at work here?

According to Neil Cameron of Herald Scotland, Arsenal have still NOT come near Celtic’s valuation of the player. The journalist confirms there has been a second bid but it’s still not what Celtic are looking for and the structured deal is all to do with appearances.

Cameron writes: “Arsenal have made an improved offer on the original bid of £15m but even with their suggested fee rising as soon as the left-back plays a certain number of games, the Parkhead outfit are refusing to budge.”

Furthermore, Alison Conroy, a journalist who has broke many Celtic stories in the past has confirmed the club’s rejection of the structured second bid with Celtic unwilling to accept the current terms.

Conroy writes in the Herald: “Arsenal’s offer would ultimately have hit the £25m mark through appearance based-add ons but Celtic are unwilling to accept a staggered payment without an original offer which matches their valuation of a player who has already captained both club and country.”

The claims down south of an imminent departure of the player smack of assumptive reporting. Why wouldn’t Celtic take ‘x’ amount for the player and why wouldn’t Kieran Tierney want to go at the drop of the hat.

Everything at the moments is reports and counter reports. This is going to continue on until either Arsenal pay what Celtic want or the Premier League window closes.
