Celtic have been credited with an interest in a number of centre-backs, the club are clearly hedging their bets if all reports are true [some of them likely won’t be].

However, Stephen McGowan of MailSport is always good for a Celtic transfer story and the journalist is reporting today the club are looking to renew their interest in Liverpool’s Ben Davies.

It’s good to hear Celtic are leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of defensive reinforcements. Celtic thought they had Davies on a pre-contract deal in January but inexplicably Liverpool came in at the death and signed the player from Preston.

The Anfield club were in a panic about centre-backs after suffering more injuries right before the window closed. Davies was brought in and played the grand total of ZERO games for the former European Champions.

It’s unlikely Davies will get a game next season either; the centre-back will be right down the pecking order when former Celtic Virgil van Dijk is back in the team.

Celtic renewing their interest makes sense, it’s someone scouts were keen on. Wil Liverpool let the player go out on loan? We’ll wait and see.

  1. Iv seen Stephen McGowan write articles and come up with stories on players we are supposedly interested in that don’t come to fruition as well so he ain’t always reliable as you suggest
