Celtic are also reportedly interested in fellow former England internationalist and Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.
In the past 24 hours, the Hoops links to current Spurs stopper Joe Hart have stepped up a notch, with reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that talks are progressing and the two parties are close to an agreement.
However, as reported by Sky Sports – Celtic are also interested in Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster, and he could possibly be seen as an alternative option.

With recent performances between the sticks from both Vasilias Barkas and Scott Bain in the past 12 months, fans have been left far from convinced and feel we need change in that position.
I’m not sure these two goalkeepers are what fans had in mind, though.
Although they have spent many years of their career playing in the English Premier League, they are coming towards the latter years of their career.
They may turn out to be a good option in the short term and at least better than what we currently have. But, it feels like we should be aiming for more.
I hope I’m wrong but I think the rebuild is only getting underway. I think there’s a real chance of a complete collapse in the League unless we get some signings in soon. At the bare minimum we need a goalkeeper, a proven right back, a proven centre back and a striker to partner Furahashi. If these aren’t in place by the time we go to Ibrox then I fear for the rest of the season.
Then what about ditching the two stoppers we have and bring in David Marshall?or the Dundee United keeper? or both and get those two we have gone…
