The Celtic Captain Callum McGregor has committed the best years of his footballing career to Celtic by signing a five year deal with the club.

Callum, 28, rose to prominence under Ronny Deila and then Brendan Rodgers. Before that, Neil Lennon was happy for the player to be sold – Callum nearly left Celtic in Lennon’s first stint as Celtic manager.

Thankfully, we managed to hold onto the midfielder and he’s been a big presence in the squad for years. Becoming more and more influential, Callum clearly loves the club and loves playing for the Hoops.

McGregor joined the youth academy when he was 9, this deal will take him to the age of 33! It’s incredible to think about.

There has been interest in the Celtic star over the past few years but he’s continually shown his commitment to Celtic. The loyalty he’s shown has earned him a long term deal.

Ange Postecoglou was clear he wanted to start trying down players he believes are going to be pivotal to how Celtic play. We’ve already witnessed Celtic struggle without their captain in recent games.

The sooner CalMac can get back up and running the better it will be for all of us!
