FOOTBALL can be harsh sometimes, and it looks like Celtic’s need for a right back in this window has intensified after Brendan Rodgers delivered some very deflating injury news.

The Celtic manager declared Anthony Ralston would be out for ‘a while’ after suffering an injury in Celtic’s win over Airdrie at the weekend.

Ralston came in and looked set to get a run of games after the winter break, but a very unfortunate ankle injury has put the defender on the sidelines and shined an even bigger light on Celtic’s defensive woes.

“Tony Ralston has been very good for us, but he had a bad injury at the weekend which is going to put him out for a number of weeks which is disappointing.” Told Radio Scotland.

“He landed awkwardly, damaged quite badly his ankle ligaments, so that is going to put him out for a while, but we have the experience of Mikael to come in.

“Sometimes you can’t do anything about injuries, he twisted his ankle, and that’s just unfortunate.”

Lustig and Gamboa are still here at present, but both players contracts run out at the end of this season with Gamboa having no chance at a new deal and Lustig hopeful of one.

The Swede came back into the Celtic side for the injured Ralston against St Mirren and acquitted himself well. Surely Rodgers will be desperate to solve his right back issues once and for all this window. With seven days to go, it’s going to go down to the wire!
