According to reports over the weekend, Celtic are stepping up their interest in striking targets and have put Fran Sol near the top of their list.

Sol, 26, has been playing for Dutch side Willem II this season and has scored 15 goals in 18 appearances.

The former Real Madrid youngster has been in prolific form and has been attracting interest from many clubs around Europe.

Celtic have reportedly sent scouts to watch the Spaniard as they look to provide competition and help for Odsonne Edouard who has been carrying the weight of Celtic’s attacking hopes on his shoulders for a couple of months now.

Edouard has played well but the last couple of games have proved the youngster cannot do it on his own.

Brendan Rodgers spoke about getting not one but two strikers in this January window, and if they could land someone like Sol who is bang in form, it would give the club a big boost.

There will be a decent fee needed to bring the player to Celtic Park.
