Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon have been sitting out trying to map out their next moves before the start of next season. While bringing fresh players into the club is vital, the other position which will be important to fill is Lee Congerton’s old job.

The club need to put a new head of scout or director of football in place as soon as they can so the club can start preparing for the next two years and beyond.

However, according to reports this morning, it looks like the former chief scout John Park will ‘resist’ any return to Parkhead with a lucrative deal still on the table at Sunderland.

The media reported a while back that Park to Sunderland was already a done deal but that wasn’t the case with the Black Cats only suggesting he was a candidate for the position – but the deal seems very much on according to SunSport.

As time goes on and Celtic look at their options they have to be aware whoever the next man to come in and be in charge of recruiting must know what he’s doing. If it’s not Park then it will have to be someone with a proven track record.
