Celtic could be set to decide on the future of Leigh Griffiths in the coming days which determine if he was to be at the club going into next season.
At the beginning of this month, it was reported that Celtic had a big call to make about the current contract situation of striker Leigh Griffiths.
According to Sun Sport, the 30-year olds deal comes to an end this summer with the Hoops having a clause that allows them to extend it by a further year, which would cost the club close to £1 million. The deadline for this decision to be made was reportedly the 30th of April.
So, the club has a big call on their hands as to whether we may or may not see Griffiths in a Celtic strip next season.
At this stage, we do not know who the next permanent manager of the club will be. But with heavy rumours of Eddie Howe being close to the job, it would be interesting to know if he has any sort of role in this decision.
It is unlikely we receive any sort of update on this over the weekend, so unless we hear anything tomorrow about whether the club has decided to keep Griffiths on or not, the fans might have a wait on our hands to discover his fate.
At his best, he’s among the best in Europe.
At his worst, he’s just a wee gadgie ripping the p….
I’m personally a big fan, but he would really need to lay out some really confident sounding reassurances for him to expect Celtic to fork out a Million in wages next season.
That’s if Celtic are willing to offer him that!?
