While Celtic work on a deal for the elusive right-back Brendan Rodgers craves, reports emerging this morning claim the bhoys are also in the hunt for another defender as the transfer clock ticks down.

According to Spanish Newspaper AS, Celtic are interested in bringing in Sunderland left-back Bryan Oviedo before the window closes.

Celtic are facing a defensive crisis with their two first-team centre-backs out injured as well as Kieran Tierney who one of the club’s top stars.

Could Rodgers be keen to have more backup for the player with Izzy’s contract running out in the summer?

Oviedo is a first-team player at Sunderland but it’s thought the club is open to selling the player to get him off the wage bill.

The former Everton and Copenhagen defender has made 22 appearances for Sunderland so far this term but it’s unclear if the player would welcome a move away from the League one club at this point.
