UEFA could be set to hand Celtic a major boost by keeping the current coefficients as they are – even if the season doesn’t 100% end.

The talks are well underway to decide what to do with things as they stand. The current shutdown means the Europa League and Champions League cannot be finished at present.

Due to Celtic’s and The Rangers exploits for Scotland in this seasons Euro competitions, the league is line for another Champions League place.

‘Record Sport understands one table that WON’T be affected is the coefficient standings.

‘Points accrued so far will be secured and the latest standings will not be altered should the Champions League and Europa League not be completed.’

While second place being given a bite at the Champions League cherry isn’t big news for Celtic, if the bhoys continue their domestic dominance they will have to play two less qualifiers for the premier competition. Right now, this would kick in from the 21-22 season the way things work.

However, with this season still up in the air and where football goes from here with the pandemic crippling Europe at the moment – it could be a while yet before there’s more clarity.
