Celtic could be set for a bit of good news on Monday with their Celtic reserve side looking likely to be voted into the Scottish lowland league in time for next season.

The Hoops have been trying to get a colt side in the Scottish lower leagues since Jock Stein but there has always been heavy opposition to the idea from many other clubs.

Celtic are bypassing the SPFL and heading to the lowland league for a vote on both Celtic and our Glasgow rivals setting up in the league and playing a young reserve team for the entirety of next season.

League chairman George Fraser told RecordSport he believes the Celtic Colts joining the Lowland League has a good chance of being green lit by clubs. The vote goes ahead on Monday.

It means Celtic can finally start developing their youngsters in a competitive environment. There will be strict rules surrounding the players allowed to play but the first team manager would has the opportunity to have a colts side playing in the same system as the first team to ready players for the step up.
