Celtic are closing in on their first January signing, well ahead of schedule. Yuki Kobayashi looks destined for Glasgow sooner rather than later. Now it appears the bhoys could be getting a bargain.

Reports from Japan claim the defender hasn’t been tied down to a long term deal by Vissel and the Bhoys are set to land the 22-year-old on a Free transfer.

It’s the best time to sign Japanese based players as the league goes into hibernation until next season.

If Celtic can get Yuki in before January to begin training with the bhoys, the centre back would be in a greater position to make an impact come January.

The SPFL will start back on December 17. No new players will be eligible for registration until January 1st. The first game any new signing could officially play would be against The a rangers at Ibrox on January 2.

Yuki would join the four other Japanese bhoys in Glasgow. Kyogo has nearly been here for 18-months while we’re approaching the one year anniversary of Celtic signing Maeda, Hatate and Guchi.
