CELTIC have been locked in talks with Scott Bain’s representatives over a deal that would see the goalkeeper stay beyond his loan deal at the end of May.

The player is free to talk to any club of his choosing with only months left of his Dundee contract to run and Rodgers has told the board he wants Scott in his squad next season.

Scott got a small run in the side when Craig Gordon was out injured but didn’t keep his place in his side once the experienced keeper was back to full fitness.

Bain is hopeful of becoming Celtic’s number one with Gordon getting on in years and Dorus de Vries likely heading for the Celtic Park exit in the summer.

Hibs, Hearts and a few Championship sides have enquired about Bain’s availability but the loan star has given Celtic a massive head start in securing his services.

Speaking last month Bain was sure he was at the right team.

“I want to stay with Celtic, I love it here and feel I can reach my full potential here. I don’t think there’s a ceiling at this club.

“You can go as high as you like thanks to the staff, the manager, Stevie Woods, all the other goalkeepers I’m working with and obviously my team-mates.”
