Celtic are set to announce the signing of Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny on a loan deal for the rest of this season.

The club have missed out on centre-back Ben Davies after Liverpool swooped in at the eleventh hour and got a deal done promptly.

The bhoys were in the market for a right back to replace Jeremie Frimpong and they have cover now until the end of the season with the breaking story the deal is about to be done.

Jonjoe is 23 and spent last season out on loan at Schalke. He’s made four appearances for Everton this season but is not a first team player

Transfermarkt have his current value at £6m.

Celtic will likely utilise Jonjoe as early as Wednesday with Ajer needed at centre back more than ever.

It’s likely a one and done deal by the club with no big future passes this season being talked about yet between Jonjoe and Celtic.

The window closes at midnight on Monday.

  1. The usual carry on , if they wanted the Davies deal done , they should have tied it up swiftly, instead and ofcourse left the dithering and haggling has probably put paid to any kind of deal and allowed another club to come in and do the business properly to our cost yet again . No one is surprised.
