Celtic are closing in on the signing of Chelsea’s Shim Mheuka.
There has been no update regarding a timescale for Hogh or Osmand, though the latter was seen leaving Celtic Park on crutches and in a moonboot on Saturday. CeltsAreHere will continue to provide updates regarding that situation.
Mheuka scored 25 goals in 34 appearances last season, including 17 in as many games in Premier League 2.
He made four appearances for Chelsea’s senior side in the 24/25 UEFA Conference League, amassing a total of 117 minutes.
Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update, saying Mheuka has completed his medical ahead of the season-long loan move to the Hoops. The deal appears to be a straight loan with no option to buy.
While it may indicate the severity of Osmand’s injury, it could instead mean Johnny Kenny departs, either on a loan or a permanent deal. The Irishman has yet to feature this season, but has made the bench.
While Mheuka’s scoring stats are mostly at youth level, it does show a forward with potential. A striker wasn’t seemingly on the club’s radar before the absences of Hogh and Osmand, meaning a move for the Chelsea starlet has sprung out of the blue.
