Celtic have put out a communication out to the media this morning including CeltsAreHere addressing the post-match incident after the Women’s Glasgow Derby on Monday evening.

The Ghirls salvaged a point with the final kick of the ball, much to the elation of the Celtic bench and the players on the field.

They wanted a win, but under the circumstances, a draw was well deserved and keeps them in second place where a Champions League spot can be won. A defeat would have seen the team drop into third with Rangers Women taking second slot.

After the game, Rangers Women’s coach Craig McPherson charged towards Celtic manager Fran Alonso and intentionally clashed heads with him in a bid to provoke.

It was an unsavoury incident that was aired all across the UK with it being the first women’s derby to be live on Sky Sports.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Celtic spokesperson released a short statement: “Clearly this is a hugely concerning incident, falling well below any acceptable standard.”

“We understand the matter is now being investigated and it will be up to all relevant authorities to take any appropriate action.”

There has been a lot of reaction to the idiocy and Police Scotland are now investigating the incident.

It’s regrettable there there has been no apology forthcoming from the Ibrox club as of yet.
