MIKAEL LUSTIG has opened up about his current contract situation which could see him leave Celtic at the end of the season.

If Lustig does go then he will pull down the curtain on a seven-year stay with the Scottish Champions where he’s helped the bhoys to unprecedented success.

It becomes more difficult for the Swede with their being no permanent manager at the club at present, and even though the right-back has spoken to Neil Lennon he realises they are both in the same boat.

Celtic have the option to extend the defender’s deal for a further year but as of yet, they have not triggered the clause. Brendan Rodgers tried to find a replacement for Lustig in January but failed to bring in Lucas Castagne before bringing Jeremy Toljan in on loan from Dortmund with the german blowing hot and cold.

“Neil and I talked together shortly after he returned.” Lustig told Celticfc.tv.

“We discussed a little bit about my situation and about what might happen next year.

“We’re both in a situation where we don’t know what the future holds come the summer.

“I try not to think too much about the future but it’s always in your head, especially when you have a family.

“You naturally want to know what the future holds but in football that’s not always the case and I’m used to that.

“I’ve been here for a long time and I’ve loved every second of my time here.”
