MIKAEL LUSTIG has told Celtic fans he should no within a matter of weeks where his future lies and if it lies with Celtic.

The Parkhead full back is coming into the last six months of his contract and will be free to talk to any clubs in the new year.

However, if that comes about, it will be done reluctantly because Mikael believes there is more history to be made at Celtic and he would like to be here for that.

The pragmatic defender wants a Celtic stay but knows the club is looking to improve and he is unclear yet if that involves him.

Speaking to the Scotsman Lustig said: “We’ll see what happens.

“It’s up to Celtic, so I think we will see what happens in a couple of weeks.

“Celtic have an option to take up. We’ve done that before but they are always trying to improve the team. That’s normal. So I don’t know what will happen, but I am all about the team.

“As long as Celtic do good, I am happy. But I am here to fight for my position and of course I want to be here. I have always said Ilove thiss club and I love Glasgow but I am 100 percent sure I am going to move back to Sweden one day.

“We will see when that happens. There is more history to be made here at Celtic, of course, but I am 32 in a couple of weeks.”

Lustig has been at the club since 2012 and has seen a lot of people come and go at the club so he knows the drill.

There is no doubt Lustig has lost a step and Brendan Rodgers is actively looking for a right back in the transfer market. But does Rodgers see the Swedish defender as a good back up at full back and will that be enough to keep Lustig at the club?

As Lustig says, his Parkhead future should be decided in weeks, not months.
