LEIGH GRIFFITHS has set himself a goal to be fir for the new season, but right now, he doesn’t know what the new season looks like.

The Celtic striker played a very small part in the Hoops capitulation last season and to be honest, since the days of him scoring a barrel load of goals, the frontman hasn’t hit the heights for various reasons.

Leigh has something to offer any team in the SPFL but does he fit into Celtic’s plans? We just don’t know.

This time last week we were gearing up for Eddie Howe coming into the club and that sensationally came crashing down on Friday.

We’re now chasing other managers and the main man appears to be the relative unknown Ange Postecoglou.

The club have stayed quiet, so we don’t know for sure but that’s the way the wind is blowing at the minute

Leigh will not know what’s going on and will be like the rest of us, unsure of who is taking over and what their plans are.

It’s probably why the striker seems resigned to leaving the club.

While he doesn’t say it directly, Leigh has mentally prepared himself for leaving the club this summer.

Leigh didn’t get a Scotland call-up and he readily admits he wasn’t deserving of one:

“I’ve not played enough football this season so I don’t think my place would have been merited. Guys like Kevin Nisbet and Lyndon Dykes have been scoring goals and deserve it.” Leigh told GoRadio.

“The focus for me over the summer is to get as fit as I can and be ready for pre-season wherever that is and hit the ground running.

“I need to wait on the new manager getting announced and see what plans he has for me. If he doesn’t see me in his plans then it’s off to pastures new.

“If that’s the case I’ve had great years at Celtic and put myself into the history books in the top 20 goalscorers.”
