It has been a brilliant few weeks for Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, who added another hat-trick to his early Hoops tally during the 4-0 win over Ross County last weekend.

The 27-year old has been on fine form in recent weeks, particularly after the sides return from the January winter break, which has seen the former VVV-Venlo man finding the back of the net consistently.

His form also gained a return to the international fold, as Giakoumakis was called-up for the first Greece international squad since the arrival of new boss Gus Poyet.

The frontman clearly made an impression in training or with his goals in Glasgow, as he was handed a start in his nation’s 1-0 friendly win against Romania.

Giakoumakis was also unfortunate not to score for his nation, finding the back of the net with a backheel before the goal was called back for offside by the linesman.

Despite not scoring this evening for Greece, you would imagine that the Hoops striker will take great pride and confidence in starting for his international side under their new boss last night.

It could be precisely the thing that helps him continue to fire in the goals for Ange Postecoglou’s side as we approach the business end of the campaign.

He will also be hoping for another opportunity to find the back of the net when Greece take on Montenegro on Monday evening.
