CALLUM MCGREGOR has commented on speculation linking his teammate Jozo Simunovic with a move away from the club this summer.

The Celtic midfielder has been impressed with the Croatian, especially since Neil Lennon returned to the club and believes the centre back has more to give in a Celtic jersey.

Jozo has been linked with a move to La Liga in recent days with Alaves said to be keen on the Celtic star. However, Callum is having none of it and believes Celtic must hold onto the big man.

“Jozo has been brilliant since the manager changed.” McGregor told SunSport.

“He’s come up with big goals and looks a real top player again.

“He always had that in the locker but the last few months he’s brought that to the table again and I’m not surprised clubs are looking.

“But obviously we want our top players here to give us a chance to rebuild with the numbers we need.

“It’s important we keep the big players.”

Jozo has been playing well enough that he’s kept a fit again Filip Benkovic out the side. His fellow Croatian was first choice under Brendan Rodgers but has struggled to win his place back in the side. Neil Lennon clearly opting for players who are going to be here beyond the summer.

Jozo is likely to start the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday and unless Celtic receive an offer too good to turn down this summer, he should be back for pre-season.
