CELTIC STAR Kristoffer Ajer has announced on Instagram that he’s close to a surprising return just weeks after suffering a fractured eye socket.

The Norwegian took a nasty bump in The Bhoys 0-0 draw with Livingston in November, and was forced off at the time because of it.

Kristoffer then underwent surgery to repair the eye socket near the end of November. However, he shocked many people last week when pictures from Lennoxtown showed the big defender already back in training with the rest of the squad.

Showing his determination and commitment to the cause, Ajer has wasted no time in trying to get back into the team.

With Boyata being out for at least the next few weeks it could be the opening Ajer needs to stake he place for a start.

If Brendan Rodgers doesn’t believe he’s fit enough yet then Celtic are likely going to go with a Croatian centre back pairing in Jozo Simunovic and Filip Benkovic.
