Celtic defender Carl Starfelt has continued to put across the right message in a crucial part of the season, insisting that we are only focusing on ourselves during the title race.

After picking up a 4-0 victory against Ross County on Saturday afternoon, the Hoops stretched their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points, with Glasgow rivals Rangers playing later on today.

Despite being pressed for a response to how the players might be keeping an eye on the on-goings of other sides in the league, Starfelt continued to put across the correct message that we are only focusing on ourselves in this race for the title.

“No, we’re not thinking about Rangers,” he said, as quoted by Sun Sport.

“We know it’s seven games left for us and that we have everything in our own hands.

“So, we’re just focusing game-by-game, and we’re not looking at them.

“We’ve done it all year, not getting ahead of ourselves, just taking it game-by-game. That’s what we’ll keep doing.”

It is great to hear this sort of response from someone such as Ange yesterday. But it also comes across even better when it is from the players, who are insistent on remaining focused during this part of the campaign.

Currently, the title is in our hands, with a continued winning run delivering the SPFL Trophy, but there is a long way to go and focus must remain on one game at a time.

The attitude on display from those within the dressing room at Parkhead continues to be impressive, and long may it continue during a high pressured period of the season.
