Josip Juranovic has been out injured since the Hampden Scottish Cup semi-final. Ange Postecoglou never likes to give a proper timeframe for a players return and he’s been coy on the defender’s status going into the final three games of the season.

The good thing is Ange hasn’t ruled Josip out for the rest of the season, so there’s a chance he can still play this season.

However, time isn’t on Josip’s side. There are ten days left of the SPFL as we sit on May 4th. A game against Hearts this weekend, followed by a midweek jaunt to Tannadice, finishing up with a home game against Motherwell on May 14.

If Josip isn’t fit for this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he didn’t pull the Hoops on again this season.

Speaking during Friday’s pre-match press conference, the Celtic manager confirmed; [Celtic TV]

Juranovic is still out; we’ll see how he goes over the next week or so.”

If Celtic get a win against Hearts on Saturday, they have effectively sealed the title. At that point, Ange might look to use some of his fringe squad in the final two games of the season. If the league still needs to be technically clinched then a Dundee Utd appearance could be on the cards.

We await news on the Croatian and if he has any further part to play before the end of the season.

Anthony Ralston is a good deputy and will continue in the role if Juranovic isn’t deemed fit enough.
