Greg Taylor started his first game for Celtic at the weekend against Dundee Utd since being sidelined with a shoulder injury.

The Scottish international slotted straight back into the side and didn’t look out of place as Celtic ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

The Celtic left back had to undergo surgery to correct a shoulder injury he picked up early in the season. In his absence, Josip Juranovic has been playing out of position at left back and doing a decent job.

Speaking about his time out of the game, the defender revealed what went into his surgery and how he’s managed to heel

“I got a procedure where you get a bone graft to stabilise it. It was just about making sure the bone had healed and giving it time to heal.” Taylor told CelticTV.

“But thankfully there were no complications from the operation. I am very grateful to the surgeon but also everyone who has helped me on the way back – the staff, the sports science staff and coaching team.”

Liam Scales came on for Greg late in the game to make his league debut and scored for the Hoops to make it 3-0. Scales is Taylor’s direct competition and it will be handy if the pair can timeshare the role going forward.

Celtic’s game against Real Betis on Thursday night is a dead rubber, so it’s time to throw in some of the fringe players and perhaps give Liam Scales his first start for the Hoops.
