One major surprise this season has been the emergence of Tony Ralston. The defender could have been out of a job at the end of last season under different circumstances. Instead, Celtic triggered a one-year extension to his deal because he was our ONLY right back in the building. Since then, he’s gone about proving himself to the manager and the Celtic support, and has really turned a corner.

He’s played almost every game for Celtic and continues to get better. It begs the question, why is he not in the Scotland setup this international break?

I know there will be plenty of fans who will be glad Anthony is getting a rest but the player himself as the right to be furious about the snub.

Players want to play for their country and after the efforts of Anthony over the past three months, he certainly deserves a look by Steve Clarke.

On current form, he’s the best Scottish right back in the country. It’s quite something to overlook the Celtic defender. Clarke has gone with Patterson who has had every little game time and Stephen O’Donnell.

Clarke has made a number of strange calls over the piece so far. We should qualify for the World Cup playoffs but we could be doing it a bit easier by choosing in form players.

  1. Sorry Tony but l for one am glad you’ve been overlooked for international duty, well that’s my selfish point of view… I’d hate to see you injured and sitting it out at Parkhead as we put to the sword the ibrox tribute act.
Too many of our Bhoys come back from internationals injured and let’s never forget a young John Kennnedy carried off in a friendly with Romania that ended his career.
