According to former Hearts boss, Craig Levein, Celtic made over five attempts to sign Aaron Hickey last season. There have also been numerous rumours of the club looking at left-back options.

Add that in with the way Neil Lennon dropped Boli Bolingoli like a bad habit after the winter break and the writing appears to be on the wall for the Belgian defender.

Boli only came in a year ago and Celtic had high expectations for the left-back. Some shaky performances put the player under intense scrutiny but there was over-exaggerated criticism aimed at Boli throughout the first half of last season.

Neil Lennon has made Greg Taylor his number one left-back since the start of 2020 and at the moment, it doesn’t seem like there’s any way back for the Belgian.

Simply put, if Celtic receive a reasonable offer for the defender this transfer window, Boli’s stay at Celtic will be over. It’s strange how quickly he went from first-team pick to outcast, but it’s the manager’s prerogative at the end of the day.

  1. He has been very poor since his first appearance… oh and the idea that he is a left winger is ridiculous, he cannot beat a man. A step too far. Maybe an English championship club?
