Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will welcome back long-term injured midfielder David Turnbull next week, as the 22-year old prepares to set up his return from the knock sustained in December.

The Scotland internationalist has been missing from action since being replaced during the Premier Sports cup final against Hibernian after picking up a serious hamstring injury.

But, with the season coming into its crucial stages during the final few games of the campaign, Postecoglou is set for a much-welcomed boost with Turnbull making his return, adding to the options in midfield.

Monday evening’s trip to face Dundee United will come just too soon for the former Motherwell man, but Ange confirmed that he is set to join the group in training from next week.

“The game against Dundee United is too soon for Bull. He is back in training but not with the main group yet,” he said, as quoted by SUN SPORT.

“All going well we’re hoping early next week he should be back with the main group.

“We’ll see how we go from there. I don’t know if he’ll be available for Ross County, but he’s almost back training with the team.”

Turnbull made a good start to the season, playing every competitive game under the ex-Socceroos boss, who appears to be a big fan of the midfielder.

Since then, Ange has also added the likes of Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley into the squad, so Turnbull will be vying for their places when he makes a return to the first-team matchday squad.

Hopefully, he is able to hit the ground running on his return to action, playing a big part in the final run-in towards the end of the campaign.
