Celtic goalkeeper, Scott Bain has insisted ‘You’re silly’ to even consider that the League title has already been conceded by the holders to title-chasers Rangers.

As reported by Sun Sport, Bain who has been Neil Lennon’s number one for the last six games has backed the squad to bounce back like this because they have shown that ability to go on long stretches, winning games in the past.

(When asked about those who are suggesting the league title has been conceded already) “You’re silly. I’m sure there will be those who do it, but they will be silly to do it.

“I think we’ve always shown an ability to go on a run. If you look at the turn of the year in the last three or four seasons, we have really steam-rollered teams from then on.

“There’s a lot of games to be played. December is a really busy month, so we need the full squad to be together for that. When you go to December you know you want to be there or thereabouts.

“But in the coming months, when it really matters, this squad goes from strength to strength and really pushes on. We want to get that quicker — but there’s a lot of games to be played.

“It’s been difficult, we seem to be punished for every mistake we make at the moment. That’s just how it’s going right now.”

The league title isn’t over just yet. There are a lot of games to go before that will be decided, so in that sense, Bain is right.

However, it is rapidly getting to a stage where it could fall away from our grasp and going off the last few performances, it seems to be heading that way which is extremely worrying at this stage.

Something has to change. We have been here so many times this season, that we aren’t even surprised anymore. At this time, nothing is suggesting that our fortune will be turning soon, so we have to do something if we want that to change.

  1. In the previous seasons, Celtic have went on a run of unbeaten games (in the league and cups) but someone upstairs (and the dugout) decided to cut ties with certain defencive players, who are needed now. What Celtic need is a good auld lock in. And a more constructive training regime. Don’t need the players to live out of each others pockets (like under Stein and McNeil eras)..
But the time to wake up should have started, once CL football was lost. So that’s a long time to make up for. Can the Hoops pull it out the bag? Nope, getting a bit late (never say never, over and over) type credo. Well the winning (not settling for draws against any team in the Scottish league) starts now if the Hoops, don’t want to finish top of the the losing bunch of their 10 fellow stugglers.
