Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley has recovered from the knock sustained at Ibrox in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Rangers and has returned to training ahead of this weekend’s fixture against St Johnstone.

The 21-year old looked to have taken a nasty knock and was forced off through injury shortly after being introduced into the game in the second half as Celtic looked to see out all three points.

However, it looks to be good news for Ange Postecoglou and his squad, with a report from the Glasgow Times stating that the former Fulham and MK Dons man has made a swift return to training in time for the Hoops fixture at Parkhead on Saturday.

Since his arrival during the January window, O’Riley has added another dimension to the Celtic midfield, competing for places with the likes of Reo Hatate and Tom Rogic.

Postecoglou was able to show his strength and depth on Sunday when bringing on O’Riley in the second half before having to replace him shortly after with another quality option in David Turnbull.

Of course, Ange does have options in that area of the park, but the Celtic boss will be delighted that the Danish under-21 internationalist isn’t out for any considerable amount of time and can return to action right away with some crucial fixtures on the horizon.
