It’s been five long months since Christopher Jullien set foot in Celtic Park.

It was the final game of 2020 when the Frenchman cleared the ball off the line against Dundee Utd and then his knee collided with the post – his season was over.

It really epitomised Celtic’s season; anything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

Jullien would then contract the virus while in Dubai and 14 Celtic players and staff had to isolate for the first few games in January.

Since that time, Celtic have lost their title and Scottish Cup trophy. The defender has been watching his team from afar while rehabbing in his home country.

Back at Celtic Park for the new Adidas kit launch, Jullien seemed in good spirits and gave everybody an update on his ongoing injury.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “In the last session I did in France I was starting to run on the pitch like I was before so I was really happy with that. I just need to keep going and work on getting my strength fully back. I can’t wait to be back on the pitch with my team-mates and to have that feeling with the ball again.

“It feels like something is missing and when you see your teammates playing football and you’re unable to do anything it hurts. Just thinking of coming back and enjoying football again is a feeling I can’t wait to have.

“I can’t wait to see the fans again and to have them in the stands. It would be the best present for my comeback. We play football for the kind of atmosphere you experience in Celtic Park. It’s unforgettable to play at Celtic Park again front of the fans and I can’t wait to have this feeling back. I’m working hard every day and can’t wait to be back.”

There’s an argument for the Celtic star becoming the new captain next season now Scott Brown has left the building. Cal Mac has been touted to take on the role but there could be something said for Christopher taking the armband.

The centre-back will likely miss the start to the season through injury.

We have been debating who should be our next captain on our social media feeds.
