Nicolas Kühn has been named in the latest SPFL Team of the Week – and not just included, but highlighted as the star man. The winger shone in Celtic’s emphatic 5-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice, a result that sealed the Hoops’ 55th league title in style with four games to spare.
It was a near-perfect afternoon for the German, who bagged two goals and put in the kind of performance fans have been waiting to see from him on a consistent basis.

His first came in the 38th minute, finishing off a quick break with a composed strike after Daizen Maeda whipped a cross across the face of goal. His second, just before half-time, was another example of his sharp movement and timing, smashing home after Idah missed at the near post.
Kühn looked full of energy and confidence throughout, combining well with Maeda down the left and finding space in key areas. It was one of his most complete games in a Celtic shirt, and his inclusion as the SPFL’s top player of the week feels fully earned.

What raised eyebrows, though, was the lack of other Celtic players in the Team of the Week. Adam Idah, who also netted twice and linked play superbly, might feel hard done by. Maeda, who grabbed two assists and caused the Dundee United defence no end of problems, could make a strong case too. But sometimes these weekly picks focus on standout individual moments, and Kühn’s two goals on such a big day certainly ticked that box.

Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to see Kühn getting recognition. Rodgers has kept faith in the winger even through quieter spells this year, and this performance showed why. If Kühn can carry this level into the Scottish Cup final next month, he could end the season on a high after a poor second half of the campaign.
For now, it’s another reason for Celtic fans to smile. The title is secured, the Hoops are flying, and Kühn is showing signs he could regain the form he showed in the first six months of the season.
