It’s January so we’re braced for all sorts of rumours and speculation.

The big one today surround Diego Laxalt, the Milan player, currently on loan at Celtic has reportedly been offered a contract totalling €9m for a three year deal to join Al-Hilal in the summer.

The Uruguayan is still under contract in Italy and would command a fee from any team looking to sign him on a permanent basis.

Italian based Sky Sports Journo, Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed the player has been offered this deal before Al-Hilal even approached Milan about a fee.

The same reporter reveals Laxalt and his reps have told the interested parties he’s not interested in heading outside European football and wants to continue with Celtic or as his agent claimed a few weeks back, in the EPL.

Gianluca Di Marzio wrote: Laxalt , who has been in Dubai for a few days together with the rest of his teammates, ended up in the crosshairs of Al-Hilal, a team currently in first position in their championship.

“The Arab club has offered the player a three-year contract for almost 3 million euros per season , while waiting to speak with Milan. However, Laxalt refused because he wants to continue playing in Europe.

“In fact, his priority remains Celtic , where he is playing continuously and is highly appreciated by the current technical staff.”

Diego started strong but has tapered off lately. He still remains a strong option for Neil Lennon but he has to work on certain aspects of his game. His biggest attribute is winning the ball, his distribution and decision making has been lacking. Something you need to work on to be a success at Celtic as a full-back.
