Western Melbourne were given the green light in November to become one of two new clubs to join the A-league in Australia.

Behind the consortium, a football agent and Celtic fan admitted should the club’s bid be successful they would look to Scott Brown as their marquee signing.

At the time, the Celtic Captain was flying high with Celtic struggling to replace him long term. Since missing games through injury, Callum McGregor has come to the forefront and has given Celtic fans a glimpse into life without Scott Brown, and it wasn’t that bad!

However, to say the Celtic captain is done at the club after a recent poor display at Ibrox is premature.

Scott Brown has reportedly been offered a life-changing contract which would see he and his family move to Melbourne on a three-year deal according to SunSport.

There is no questioning Scott Brown’s commitment to Celtic up until this point, but even Celtic would be reluctant to offer such a deal to a player in the back end of his career.

A better way of life, out of the Glasgow fishbowl would undoubtedly be appealing to many in Brown’s shoes.

However, if Celtic offer Brown a player/coach role it could tip the balance in the club’s favour.

Whatever he decides, it’s safe to say Brown’s place in Celtic history is already cemented.
