MALMO are set to test the resolve of Mikael Lustig as his Celtic contract runs down and officially finishes in June.

The Swedish star is wanted back in his home country with clubs in the Allsvenskan desperate to land the Celtic defender.

Mikael has said all along he’ll only leave Celtic if they don’t want him anymore and would only then head back to his country. A decision is yet to be made on his future with the last game of the season this weekend against Hearts for the Scottish Cup.

According to SunSport, the defender has been offered lucrative terms by Malamo in a bid to tempt him back to Sweden and the contract would make him one of the top earners in the league.

Lustig has been a faithful servant to Celtic over the past eight years and he’s become a fan favourite. There’s no secret the bhoys are looking for a new first team right back but whoever the manager is this summer, they will have to decide if Mikael is worth another year as a back up.
