BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed long term injured Nir Bitton played his first football game in TEN months after a bounce game was scheduled for the player on Tuesday.

Speaking to Celtic TV the Parkhead Boss was positive about Nir’s run out but admitted Thursday’s game comes much too soon for the midfielder.

“It is still too early for him,” Rodgers admitted.

“He played 60 minutes on Tuesday for a game that was arranged for him.

“It is great to see him back on the field again.”

Nir has been out with a knee injury since February and has undergone surgery as well as intense physiotherapy in order to get to this point.

The Celtic utility man has admitted he may cry with happiness when he makes  a return to the first team in the coming weeks or months.

Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to have Bitton to call upon again once he’s fully fit.

The Celtic manager has been a big fan of the player during his time at Celtic and even put trust in Nir to play in defence in some big games before his injury.
