Norway boss Lars Lagerback has confirmed on Friday morning Celtic loan star Mohamed Elyounoussi has been sent back to Glasgow after the player picked up an injury training with the national side.

Speaking to RecordSport the manager said:

“Unfortunately, Mohamed has an injured foot and can’t play against the Faroe Islands or Malta.

“He has left the squad and returned to his club”

This will be Neil Lennon’s worst nightmare with the Celtic manager always a bit anxious when his stars go out to play for their countries.

Before the break, Elyounoussi has been a pivotal player for the club and was instrumental during the win against Lazio both home and away.

Celtic have a massive run of games between now and the end of December and without Hatem Elhamed already ruled out for a significant period this is the last thing Neil Lennon will wants

Celtic will now assess the player and find out just exactly how long the player will be missing for.

Mikey Johnston was also sent home from Scotland under 21s. If both left sides players are still out, Scott Sinclair might get a reprieve.
