Celtic duo Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor have received a call-up to Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad ahead of this month’s two friendlies against Poland and either Wales or Austria.

However, ANTHONY RALSTON has once again missed out on a call-up, with Clarke opting to go with Tierney, Robertson, Taylor, O’Donnell, Paterson and Hickey in the full-back areas instead.

This season, Ralston has turned things around at Celtic. After he was granted a year extension in the summer, he has since signed a long-term deal at the club, demonstrating his improvement this season.

The new fan favourite has been directly involved with twelve goals this season, seven assists and five goals. That’s a brilliant return for a defender.

For comparison, in more games, Stephen O’Donnell has no goals and assists, yet he is selected over the in-form defender. Patterson has only played once since he moved to Premier League strugglers Everton. Before his move, he played as many games as Ralston has goal involvements and has two assists to his name.

Clarke has made it clear he will only select players who are playing for their clubs, so calling up Nathan Patterson, who has yet to play 90 minutes since the turn of the year over Tony Ralston, is pretty confusing.
