RYAN CHRISTIE has revealed what Neil Lennon did not long after he came in the door at Celtic Park when the Irishman took over for the outgoing Brendan Rodgers.

In a move which fits in with what other players have said since Lennon’s return, the interim Celtic manager pulled Ryan aside to talk to him and to get to know him personally even though they were not able to communicate on the training field together

Ryan has been out injured since last month and has yet to play under the new boss, however, Neil was keen to make sure nobody was left out and went about making an impression with the squad as a whole and as individuals.

“As soon as he came in the door within a couple of days he pulled me aside just to have a chat with me and get to know me a bit and likewise me with him.” Ryan told CelticTV.

“So that was nice and now I’m desperate to get my first taste of playing under him.”

The midfielder also gave an update on his current hamstring injury and is hopeful of getting back onto the lennoxtown training pitch in the next week or two.

“Obviously it’s always frustrating getting injured.

“When you finally overcome the first part and manage to get yourself back out and start running again, it’s always nice.

“Hopefully I can start trying to get back into a rhythm again and hopefully join training in the next couple of weeks and then really kick on.”

Ryan has had a whirlwind season with the midfielder coming from nowhere to being an important first team player. The Scottish star was a big reason why Celtic won the League Cup with Ryan’s second half display against Hearts in the semi’s and the winning goal in the final ensuring the trophy stayed at Paradise.

We hope he will be back in action in time to make an impact in the rest of the season, the Scottish Cup semi final seems too early for him at this point.
