CELTIC have been woeful defending set-pieces this season and terrible attacking them; it’s a problem that has always been associated with Celtic.

Against Dundee, Celtic nearly dropped points after conceding two goals from set-pieces. When teams come to Celtic Park, their only opportunity to get high up the pitch is to attack free-kicks and corners, so the Hoops must be sharp and deal with them.

Speaking today at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference, Starfelt revealed that the team are working on many elements of their game, set pieces included; [Celtic’s YouTube]

We are working on all the elements of our game and set-pieces is one of them. In some games, we have been letting in goals from set-pieces and every week we don’t want to let in any goals. We are trying to improve on that and we have been letting in very few goals from other ways in the game. We are working on set-pieces and the last game was good.

Callum McGregor spoke last week to CeltsAreHere and revealed he did not believe that defending set pieces was that big of an issue, and the problem only highlighted it because the team does not concede many other goals.

Ange never wants to stop improving his side, and he will tinker away at any area he is not satisfied with. The manager can not be satisfied that the team risk dropping points from conceding balls from a wide position into the box.
