The Celtic boss says that the Scottish midfielder picked up a knock after last weekend’s match. Turnbull got a rare start in midfield for the match, with Reo Hatate dropping to the bench. The Japanese midfielder eventually come on, and instantly changed the match, while grabbing a brace.

Postecoglou confirmed his absence to the media on Friday, saying: [STV]

Turnbull took a bit of a knock last week so he will miss the game and everyone else is ok.”

It wasn’t the best performance from Turnbull. It felt like he slowed the game down, especially with how one-footed he is, and he misplaced a few passes. He failed to make the positive impact that we’ve seen so often from the player from the bench.

There is undoubtedly a quality player there, but last Saturday was a huge opportunity missed, and now that he’s picked up a knock, fans are wondering when his next chance will come.
