FRASER FORSTER will likely take his place between the sticks on Thursday night in Rennes with Neil Lennon hoping his team can spring a surprise in France.

The goalkeeper rejoined Celtic on loan this summer after falling out of favour at Southampton – the club who bought Forster from Celtic back in 2014.

Fraser has come in and looked solid in goals so far and the fans will be hoping he continues that form against Rennes. You have to go all the way back to 2013 for Fraser’s last European game for the club and we’ll be hoping for a very different outcome in that instance.

The goalkeeper was part of the team who fell 6-1 to Barcelona in the Camp Nou just a year after the club had just been pipped 2-1 on the night with a late Barca goal and of course that famous night at Celtic Park. It was the dying embers of Neil Lennon’s first stint as Celtic manager. That season the club finished last on three points in a group of death with Barcelona, Milan and Ajax.

Celtic have a tough group this time around in the Europa League but will be hoping for a very different outcome.
