It was last week when Neil Lennon gave us the update James Forrest was on his way back.

Today is the moment of truth, according to the Celtic manager, James is set to join first team training today after a long time out due to injury.

Lennon told CelticTV: “We’re hoping Jamsey will start back training with the squad at the start of next week. Fingers crossed on that

“He’s been out on the grass doing his rehab fitness work and the physios are confident he’ll be ready to join back in next week.

“We’ve missed him because he’s a quality player. He’s proved that over the years, time and again, and been so successful.”

James hasn’t been in the side since September, having to undergo surgery and rehab to get to the point where he can get back on the field.

There’s no doubt Celtic have missed the winger’s creativity and the natural width he gave us down the right hand side of the pitch.

Celtic aren’t going to win the league but we must look for maximum points in the coming weeks and months to close the gap and make sure it’s not humiliating. The damage was done in the early months James was out injured and he would’ve watched along with the rest of us as the ten in a row bud disintegrated.

He’ll be desperate to get back out onto the pitch. If he just joins his teammates today, the St Mirren game would come to soon on Wednesday night, but after that, who knows.
