Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer could reportedly be set for a return to the side in the pre-season friendly fixture against Bristol City on Wednesday.

As reported by Sun Sport, the Norweigan is yet to feature in the first two Hoops friendlies against Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton but looks set to be given his first run out next week, ahead of the new season.

Many didn’t expect to see the 23-year old return to the club, with interest across Europe from the likes of Norwich City and Bayern Leverkusen, who have both had bids rejected.

Now though, it is beginning to look more likely that Ajer stays at the club for another year, with reports from Norway suggesting this will be the case after the club turned down an offer of £12 million, plus £3 million in addons from Brentford.

So, with Champions League qualifiers just around the corner, you would imagine Ange Postecoglou is keen to get minutes in the defender’s legs so that he can use him in these fixtures towards the end of this month.

  1. He’s going to walk away for nothing. Holding out for too much, also Celtic are supposed to have agreed he can leave this season. Only fair they allow him to leave, picking up around £13m for Kris is fair in this pandemic.
