TOM ROGIC has pulled out of Australia’s European training camp in Turkey after the Socceroos revealed Celtic asked to keep him at the club to monitor his fitness.

According to new Austalia Coach, Graham Arnold the player had to receive an injection after playing at the weekend and is currently nursing a niggling injury which Celtic want to keep an eye on.

“Tommy has an ongoing knee issue that’s affecting his hamstring,” Arnold told the Sydney Morning Times.

“Nearly every game he’s played has only been 60 minutes and he’s coming off the bench. He’s having an injection directly after their game at the weekend that requires five to seven days rest – it’s a waste of time bringing him in, especially when our medical staff are all over what the injury is.

“There’s been great communication between Celtic and our medical staff, so we know exactly what the issue is. I know Tom well after coaching him for a quite a while and it gives a great opportunity for us to look at other players.”

Rogic has had a history of knee and leg injuries and he must be managed carefully to make sure he can keep making maximum impact when he’s on the field.

Tom has scored some pretty historically significant goals for the club and continues to be a big game player for Celtic.

  1. I wonder if the heavy clay soil that’s common around the Lennoxtown area is a factor here. Tom is a silky player who has scored brilliant goals at crucial stages but he does seem to only have an hour in the tank.
