Michel-Ange Balikwisha’s social media activity in the hours after Brendan Rodgers’ exit has raised eyebrows inside Celtic Park, with the £4.5 million summer signing accused of showing poor judgement following a difficult start to his Hoops career.

The Belgian forward shared an image of himself celebrating a goal, alongside prayer and pointing emojis, and included a reference to the Bible verse Romans 12:19 — “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath.”

The post, deleted not long after it appeared, came across as ill-timed and unprofessional given the circumstances. Whether or not it was aimed directly at Rodgers, it hinted at frustration from a player who has yet to make any meaningful impact on the pitch.
Balikwisha arrived from Antwerp in a £5 million deal with high expectations, but his first few months in Glasgow have been underwhelming. He has yet to score for Celtic and hasn’t started a match since September. His flashes of ability have been limited to brief substitute appearances, and supporters are still waiting to see the player’s true value.
At a time when Celtic are searching for focus and unity under interim boss Martin O’Neill, public gestures like this risk sending the wrong message.

O’Neill and Shaun Maloney now face the challenge of not only lifting the team’s form but also restoring professionalism and discipline behind the scenes.
Balikwisha’s talent isn’t in question, but the forward needs to let his football do the talking. With a hefty price tag and the club under pressure, actions on the pitch will count far more than cryptic messages online.
