Celtic made THREE defensive signings on deadline day and it looks like that foresight will be rewarded in two weeks time when the bhoys return to action.

Neil Lennon revealed on Tuesday Jozo Simunovic will be out of action for an undetermined amount of time as the club sends him to a specialist over his recent injury. Jozo had come on great strides under Neil Lennon since February but he’s now back on the sidelines as the club look for a solution.

“Nir will be three or four weeks, Ajer will be ten days. We are hoping to have him back for Hamilton.” Neil Lennon told CelticTV.

“We will need to send Jozo to a specialist.”

This means Celtic are another man down in defence. Kristoffer Ajer is expected to be back soon enough but the game at Hamilton might come too soon for the Norwegian. Hatem Elhamed was carrying an injury at Ibrox and admitted he hadn’t trained in ten days before his derby heroics. If the Israeli needs to sit out of the Hamilton game then it leaves Celtic looking to their what they have in reserve.

Celtic’s final deadline signing Lee O’Connor has been touted as someone who will go far in the game and can play across the whole of the backline. Conceivably O’Connor could go straight into the starting XI and show Neil Lennon what he can do straight off the bat.

It’s great Celtic have this option now and have not left themselves short if injuries occur.
