CARL STARFELT started the game on Thursday night, much to the surprise of everyone including himself.

He was simply outstanding and earned himself a Man of The Match award.

During the game, Celtic had to show both their attacking qualities as well as their defending qualities and the team did so.

Despite Hearts only hitting the target twice Celtic had to stay strong and limit their chances, especially only being one goal to the good.

Speaking after the game, as quoted by The Herald, Starfelt acknowledged this and said;

“You can’t only play one way.

“Everyone knows we want to dominate games and have the ball. We want to be in the opponents’ half but sometimes you have to show resistance because you will not dominate the game for 90 minutes. There are times you have to show something else.

“The team is getting more comfortable in the way we are playing. We are getting to know each other better.”

He later continued;

“As a defender, you know that the opposition will have chances and against Hearts we were able to resist it. We also had great chances to score more goals.

“I’m more happy with the clean sheet and I think we showed some resistance at the end when they had one or two good chances. But when you face good opponents sometimes they will get chances.”

Celtic have always looked shaky defensively, but this season the stats show otherwise. In the league, Postecoglou’s side has only conceded eight goals, the fewest in the leaugue.

Although more worryingly, 80% of goals conceded in the league have come from a cross, hopefully with Starfelt’s return, himself and Carter-Vickers can eliminate this problem at the back.
